Frameworks to support asking good questions

This is a homework assignment: Find one research study that uses a conceptual framework and be prepared to discuss it in class.

Pempek, T. a., Yermolayeva, Y. a., & Calvert, S. L. (2009). College students’ social networking experiences on Facebook. Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, 30(3), 227-238. Elsevier Inc. doi:10.1016/j.appdev.2008.12.010

The conceptual framework in this really interesting article is based in the work of Arnette (2000) which explores the socialization of adolescents (in Handbook of socialization: Theory and research) .  Conceptual frameworks can come from research, theory in the area and also from the individual researcher's world view.  This framework here suggests that socialization in adolescents as the move outside of the family unit (from 18-25 yo) is central to their sense of self and their place in the world.  This framework frames the logic and justification for this study. As we discussed in class, the framework also helps narrow the scope of the study and ensure that it is focused.
